About Beloved Hosting
Beloved Hosting has been online since 8 September 2009. It is a hosting service for domains and subdomains – totally free, no strings attached.
Beloved was conceptualized and is being ran by Shi. It is part of her web collective, The Xirculo Network.
We do not exist for profit. We exist to share our resources with those who want to nourish their artistic talents using the World Wide Web as a medium.
The Idea
Why Beloved, you ask?
My baby got his salary on the 5th of September 2009 and asked me in passing what I wanted for my birthday (24th September). He asked me again a few days, 8th September.
That time, I was brainstorming ideas on expanding my hosting services, since I noted that a lot of quality free hosts were closing down. Back then, I only offered subdomain hosting on SweetScape.org.
I mentioned that I would actually love a domain name with a .nu extension. These names cost at least a couple times more than the usual gamut of .com’s, etc. He told me to pick one and he’d pay for it straightaway.
In the spirit of loving and giving, I decided to pick a name that would sort of embody these concepts. Less than an hour later, Beloved.nu was purchased and registered at Go Daddy. It resolved several hours later in its own hostnames and dedicated IP addresses.
I ventured into this project because I’ve been hosted by very kind webmistresses and webmasters when I first started building websites way, way back in 2000. Most of them have since then moved on, but I will always be grateful for their generosity and trust.
This is a way of paying it forward, so to speak. Now that I am more than capable of procuring good web resources, it is my turn to share what I have.
The Mission
We exist to offer fun, friendly and totally free domain and subdomain hosting services.
It is our intent to lend a virtual hand to people who wish to harness their creativity through building web pages such as blogs, collectives, personal sites, fanlistings/cliques, fansites and other such projects.
If you cannot afford a paid host, we are here for you!
The Server
Our server uses the latest Intel Quad Core technology and is located at the SoftLayer Technologies data center in Dallas, Texas, United States of America.
Beloved runs on a 4-CPU Xeon hard drive with premium specs: 8GB RAM and 2TB RAID disk space. Monitoring is done by technicians round the clock using the Wormly health monitor. Our data is backed up daily with R1Soft protection software.

The Design
Our launching site theme is entitled Floral. It was heavily modified from a skin available at Yay.
The simplicity and beauty of this light aqua layout really struck me – this is what Beloved stands for as a host. That is, we offer free hosting simply and beautifully!
